Pieter de Buysser - De ongelooflijke veranderingen van meneer Afzal (…) - book
I was commissioned by Literarte to design a bibliophile edition of the Flemish author Pieter De Buysser.
The story reads as a burlesque novella, tackled by unexpected twists. This inspired me to do an extensive research into ancient novellas and novels, written by Flemish authors in the Thirties. Straight from the library of my deceased and beloved dad. I worked together with the renowned calligraphy artist Brody Neuenschwander.
Inspired by these strange phrases, Brody painted in his very particular way calligraphic interpretations on long strokes in thin Japanese paper. These were cut and folded to fit in the book. Each book contains 12 pages of this original graphic editing.
Foil printing on the cover (leatherette) and one colour printing on MultiDesign Natural. ft 15 x 19 cm. Rounded spine.
